North Central London Integrated Urgent Care
The five CCGs of North Central London, Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington have launched an integrated NHS 111 out of hours service. The contract to provide the service is held by our partners, London Central and West Unscheduled Care Collaborative (LCW) and we are material subcontractors to LCW in the provision of some aspects of this service.
During the out of hours period, the services Barndoc provides includes telephone clinical assessments with GPs and Nurses, face to face consultations at Primary Care Centres in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey and GP home visits.
What has changed?
This single service combines the 111 service and the GP out of hours service in an integrated way. You can read more about the NHS 111 service here.
Patients will not see any change to how they access out of hours services. They will be able to call 111 for urgent health advice, speak to an appropriate clinician and if appropriate be invited into a Primary Care Centre or receive a home visit.
The benefit of the integrated service is such that patients will get the right help more quickly and will not be passed between different parts of the NHS. There will also be a significant reduction in the amount of times patients will need to repeat the reason for their call.
Who is running the service?
LCW is a GP led not for profit social enterprise who, like Barndoc, have years of experience delivering local urgent care services with a team of local clinical and operational staff. Together we are committed to ensuring that the integrated service remains a local service for patients in our local communities.
How do I use the service?
The 111 telephone number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Calls are free from both landlines and mobile phones. People can call 111 when they need medical help or advice for conditions that are urgent but not life threatening. Anyone who calls 111 will be directed to a service most suited to helping them with their health needs.
If you live in Barnet, Enfield or Haringey your call may be passed to Barndoc during the out of hours period, which is when your GP surgery is closed at night or the weekend.
Barndoc does not provide the 111 service. The NHS 111 service is provided by our partner LCW.
All access to Barndoc services must be made via the NHS 111 provider. We cannot offer support or advice via email or on any of our other telephone numbers.
Barndoc is very proud to have been one of the first out of hours providers to be registered with the Care Quality Commission under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. This registration was without condition and shows Barndoc's continuing dedication to providing the best possible standards of patient care.
